SEPTEMBER 17, 2002
hello all!
a few pieces of info:
fighting Iris is performing a handful of shows in the next few weeks; we're playing all of the songs from the new CD, a couple of songs from our first CD, and several new songs. . .loads of fun!
first up is saturday, october 5th, at McRed's in van nuys. we go on at 8:30pm, and will debut the new songs at this show.
next is wednesday, october 9th at The Gig on melrose avenue in hollywood. we go on at 9:30pm; for any of you who have never been to this venue, it's very nice (lots of couches!), and a great time will be had by all (that's a promise).
most importantly:
saturday, october 12th, at the Viper Room on sunset blvd. in hollywood. we go on at 10:30pm, and if there's ever been a time to see fighting Iris, this is it; there are going to be many "big shot" record executives at this show, and the place will be packed. for those who don't know, this is johnny depp's club; it's a beautiful place, intimate and classy, and we REALLY need your support on this one. . .it could very well be "the big one" that sets us on the road to the radio. tickets are $10, and we are selling them ourselves; please let me know if you can make it, and i will send the tickets out to you immediately.
"believe." has been selling well; we have only about 50 copies remaining, and it's been extremely well-received by both fans and the media. thanks to all of you who've sent along such kind words about it; you keep us going! if you don't have a copy of this one, get it while it lasts. . .we will probably be printing an additional run, but the artwork and song order will change, so this will turn out to be quite a rarity indeed.
a big thank you to all of you who have purchased "bedroom session," which will be shipping this coming thursday, the 19th. i will be emailing a special password to each of you, which will allow access to a private page at fightingIris.com; this web page will have the lyrics to the songs and a variety of old photographs, as well as in-depth information and a bit of history on each song. thanks again, and please drop us a line and let us know what you think of the disc.
for those who haven't yet grabbed a copy, we are still running the 2-for-1 special, until the end of september: if you buy "bedroom session," we will include "believe." for FREE! yep, your eyes do not deceive you. and if you don't think the two CDs were worth the money you've paid, you heard it here: return it for a full refund of your money. yep, your eyes do not deceive you. we want you to be fully satisfied with our "product," and if you're not. . .well, send it on back. no questions, no problem. how many bands offer a money-back guarantee? hopefully not many, or this part will be sounding very stupid right about now.
"bedroom session" will only be available until the end of the year, so don't delay. . .this will certainly turn out to be a rare item, as none of the songs will be released in the future!
okay, no more sales stuff. things are looking very good for us right now; our management team is working on a tour for us, as well as placement in several very big films. . .more on that shortly, as soon as the contracts are signed. outside of that, we are going back into the studio next week, to begin recording an additional six or seven songs; we may release them altogether, for a bigger-and-better version of "believe.", we'll have to wait and see. several of the songs we're recording are in the new live set, so come down and see us for a preview. i will tell you that we are recording a version of "roll it over" by oasis, a song we've been doing in our live show from day one. we'll keep you posted.
if you get a chance, please head over to www.sunsetstripradio.com and check it out; the man in charge (dirk dutton) is featuring fighting Iris on the site at this moment! he's a great guy, has a fantastic site (which does well to support local music), and deserves a big THANK YOU from the Iris!
alright, friends. the new website is not quite ready, but i promise it will be up shortly, and you'll be the first to know. lots of goodies planned for the new site, including samples of new songs as they're recorded -- should be interesting, as you'll be able to hear clearly the process of how a tune comes together. there will also be a bulletin board for all of you to rip on each other (and on us), and an occasional chat room where the boys & i will get together in a virtual room with you all and REALLY go at it!
thanks again for all your support! and remember: the important show is saturday, october 12th at the Viper Room in hollywood, at 10:30pm. this is serious stuff, and we really need your support more than ever. mark your calendars, and we will see you there. remember to email for tickets.
see you soon, and although each of us has some sort of problem to deal with, just remember: hockey season is just around the corner! GO KINGS!!
be good,
chad & the boys

AUGUST 27, 2002
hello friends!
just got back from two very successful shows in lexington, kentucky, at the Midwest Music Conference. we had a great time, saw many old friends, and found our two shows packed with people! our next installment will have information on the next series of local shows.
we'd like to give a huge shout of thanks to those who supported us in kentucky, especially our friends from the band SORE -- who did not perform this year, but came all the way from milwaukee to see us and do their crazy "thing." it was wonderful to see you guys. . .thanks! also a huge thank you to our soundman and engineer Rick Altschuler, who did a wonderful job in making us sound as good as we could. you're the Man! thanks as well to Glenn "the roadmaster" and his assistant Cody, who worked their tails off getting our equipment to the midwest and performing duties of tour manager, roadie and everything else. . .couldn't have done it without you! also couldn't have done it without our friend Matt, who came through when we really needed him. thanks, bro! we won't forget you.
we'd like to thank both Jed. and Weedeeter, who made the trip worthwhile for us; both of them had amazing showcases at the conference; look for big things from both of these talented bands (www.jedrock.com, and www.weedeeter.com).
special thanks to Pat DeNizio of the Smithereens, who is the newest friend to fighting Iris. Pat is the owner of Radio Unsigned (XM Satellite Radio) and gave the most memorable performance of the conference; performing an impromptu solo with an acoustic guitar -- to an audience of perhaps a dozen lucky enough to be in the room -- he showed just how important the SONG is, and made fans for life out of each of us. hopefully we will be working together in the very near future, in some capacity; thanks, Pat! you're the best.
so many people to thank, people who helped to make the trip enjoyable on both personal and professional levels: the bands Bombshelter, Keep, Jambone Lewis, Spooncat!, Childhood, The Limit, Gloria Bills, Lucid Grey. . .so many others that i'm forgetting, please forgive me. you are all terrific and we look forward to working with you again soon.
ultimate thanks goes to the conference organizers Stephen (jr. & sr.), Connie & Courtney Zimmer; what can we say about you? once again you made us feel right at home, and we've no doubt that 90% of the fighting Iris "buzz" at the conference was due to your efforts. thanks so much, and hopefully we can repay your kindness at some point.
on the CD front: until the end of september we are including a free copy of our latest CD "believe" with any purchase of the "rarities" CD "Bedroom Session." this version of "believe" was a very short run of discs (they're running out already), and will include a song that will NOT be on the "real" run (which will take place this month sometime). we are recording two additional tracks this weekend, and these two songs will be included on the final disc. the current copies also have different artwork on the disc itself, than will be on the final version. rare stuff! and who knows? perhaps someday eBay will get you $6.50 for one of these! sooo. . .buy Bedroom Session and get a limited edition copy of Believe. but only until the end of september, so hurry and get over to fightingIris.com/shopping.htm and grab your copy.
one final holler goes out to chris lendzion, who took care of things locally while we were gone. . .freeing us to concentrate on doing the best we could at the conference. thanks, chris! we love you.
and we love all of you as well
thanks for your continued support
and we'll see you soon

hello friends;
we've finally finished the CD. it's called "believe," and it's a 5-song e.p.
hope you like it! can't tell you how many technical problems we experienced while recording it. . .which is why it took so very long to complete. anyway, it's being mastered by oingo boingo's john avila (thanks, john!) and should be duplicated and ready to fork over in about a week.
we'd like to send a quick thank you to Command Audio and its main man (and main engineer) rick altschuler, who worked very hard and helped us FAR more than we deserved. thanks, rick!
on the "live" front:
we had to cancel the show at the House of Blues (tomorrow night. . .forgive the late warning), but will be there sometime in september. for now, our only show before heading to kentucky is this coming saturday, august 17th, at johnny foxx's in west los angeles. we go on at 11 p.m., and we're playing with an excellent band from san francisco called August. we have tickets, so please let me know if you can make it, and i'll arrange to get tickets to you somehow (even if that means meeting you out front on the night of the show!). on the 21st, we leave for the Midwest Music Conference in lexington, kentucky, where we are playing either two or three shows. all of them should be big, but the last one (which is still up in the air) will be the biggest. looks like we're playing with Stone Temple Pilots, but several weeks ago the show was to include Sevendust and Eve 6. so i'll let you know about that one when everything's firmed up.
our new website should be up by the end of the week, as well; please check it out and let us know what you think. you'll be able to hear samples of the new songs and see some new photos as well.
for those of you who ordered "Bedroom Session," and are still waiting: THANK YOU for being so patient. we will be sending you a free copy of the new e.p. along with the Session disc. and we sincerely apologize for the delay.
other than that, we've just been working diligently on the CD. one of the songs ("this song is all i need") will be available on our website in a day or two, for you to preview (more on that shortly); this song is also going to be the first track on the Midwest Music Conference Compilation CD. cool.
wanted to shout out a big congratulations to local comrades Jed. (jedrock.com) and Weedeeter (weedeeter.com), both of whom are heading out to kentucky with us. way to go! they're both awesome, so please check them out when you have a moment.
that's about it for now; again, please let me know if you can make it out this saturday night; we'll send directions and info within the next 48 hours. and thanks to all of you who let me know that you're still "fans"; we appreciate you more than you know.
take care, and talk to you again shortly.

that's it. t-shirts are still in the works, we should have them by the april 6th show at molly malone's.
see you at one of the shows, and thanks for waiting.
