TJ was born at Woodstock. His pregnant mother was rockin' out to Ten Years After, and ... well ... all that positive rock'n'roll energy just induced labor on the poor woman.

TJ Brinjak was soon chosen as a stage name ... his real name, Elvis Van Halen, just didn't seem to shout rock'n'roll !!

In high-school, TJ lettered in track, although he admits he never won any races. "Most of the time, I'd come across three golden apples along the way ... I'd stoop down to pick them up, and next thing I know I'm in last place."

TJ explains the history of Fiction:

"It all started with me & bob playing acoustic guitar at a bar in La Mesa. People seemed to like the songs we wrote, but it was obvious we needed a drummer. Luckily, we met Frank, who rounded out the group. Things really took off when we added the second Irish guy !!"
